LINPAC Packaging grows family with internships

Europe’s leading multi-material packaging manufacturer, LINPAC Packaging, is offering two new internships to undergraduates or recent graduates looking to kick-start their career with an innovative manufacturing company.

The food packaging company, which has sites across the world, is offering the paid placements during 2012 with flexible start dates and working periods. Successful applicants will work with the central innovation team on two key projects during their internship, which will enable them to gain a greater understanding of today’s manufacturing industry and develop skills that will enable them to become valuable contributors at LINPAC or other manufacturing organisations in the future.

Joanna Stephenson, Vice President Marketing & Innovation at LINPAC Packaging, said: “We are committed to employee training and education, and recognise that developing skilled people is essential if LINPAC Packaging is to remain competitive, efficient and productive – and, of course, to maintain our position as an innovator in the packaging sector.

“We plan ahead carefully to avoid any skills shortage by ensuring there is a succession process for  employees who have been trained with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to rise through the ranks and become the leaders of the future.

“We very much look at the long-term plan and, as part of our ‘fresh thinking’ ethos, we continually strive to encourage all our employees to complete training on an ongoing basis.   The success of any business is down to its people, and these internships are a great way to bring new talent into our LINPAC Packaging family.”

The Interns will have the opportunity to work at many of the company’s sites in Europe for weeks at a time. Applicants should be studying towards, or have recently completed, a scientific, industrial design or engineering degree level qualification.  Language capabilities are desirable but not essential.

The roles and responsibilities are varied, but a key part of the internships are supporting two projects that relate to quality control, monitoring competitor activity and building a database of LINPAC products and tooling which can be used by the innovation, sales and marketing teams.

Ms Stephenson added: “While people don’t need to have related experience, some knowledge of manufacturing would be desirable. We are looking for people who are comfortable with analytical work and have the ability to carry out research and present findings clearly to senior members of staff. These internships are a fantastic opportunity for those starting out in their careers or wanting to build on their experience, whilst working with a company that is a leader in the packaging sector.”
