Environment
One of LINPAC's core values is performance – to be the benchmark for success in our industry. Our commitment to performance characterises the way we approach our environmental responsibility. It is our aim to be the leader in our industry for providing sustainable and environmentally sound products, operations and services. Not only will this help us grow responsibly, but it will ensure that we are able to improve our costs and efficiency – it makes good business sense.
Good packaging ensures that products are moved from source to destination in the best possible condition, with the best use of material. Our challenge as a packaging producer is to provide innovative packaging using fewer raw materials and less energy that still retains its primary purpose. Likewise, by providing efficient services, and reusable products, we can help our customers reduce the amount of waste in their own supply chains and help close the recycling loop.
We follow a comprehensive environmental policy with the primary purpose of reducing energy consumption in our manufacturing processes and complying with all relevant environmental legislation. Here are some practical examples of this policy in action:
Reduce
- Our Nova Scotia facility is one of the largest re-processors of waste plastics and one of the only Canadian firms to use geo-thermal transfer of heated water
- Last year, LINPAC Environmental reduced its carbon foot print by 570 carbon tonnes – enough to fill 95 hot air balloons
- Our UK manufacturing sites buy electricity from renewable sources wherever possible
Re-use
- LINPAC Allibert supplies re-usable, multi-trip containers and provides a maintenance and repair service to prolong their life cycle
- LINPAC's stand-alone shipping containers do not need supplementary packaging helping to eliminate extra packaging entering the waste stream. They also have countless secondary uses as storage containers and liquid cleaning buckets.
Recycle
- LINPAC Recycling is a European leader in the recycling of post-consumer plastic waste offering end-of-life recycling as a commercially viable alternative to disposal. Last year, LINPAC recycled over 36,000 tonnes of used plastic
- LINPAC Allibert offer customers a waste management service to bale and recycle cardboard, plastic and food waste helping reduce waste going to landfill and improving efficiency in the supply chain
- The majority of litter bins supplied by LINPAC Environmental are made from recycled materials
